Yes, the ever-popular game is back! For those who've forgotten, the rules are:

1. One of us quotes an episode (and tells us which season it's from).
2. The rest of us try and guess what episode the quote comes from.
3. The winner (and ONLY the winner - no barging in, please) sets the next one.
4. Like ccb's quizzes, only checking the actual episode is allowed (no other resources, for example books written by Susan Kesler ).

Before that unfortunate mishap, the quote was "Was that a shot?" as set by nittanyapple...

Season 1
Something no self-respecting _______ should be without.
(The missing word refers to the episode title; please fill in the blank as well as identifying episode, speaker, and spoken-to.)

Clue the first:
A most expensive game of checkers!

Clue the second:
Fake accents abound (one of them being Artie's) - but her accent is apparently real.

Clue the third:
The anachronism of telegraphing to and from a moving train (not invented, if my information is correct, till 1887).

Clue the fourth:
s*ck in that gut, Artemus!

Clue the fifth:
According to the baddies, it's time for sunset, but only minutes later, one of them checks his watch and announces it's 2 in the afternoon. O.o

Clue the sixth:
We've seen that desk clerk before, but then he was a bartender.

Clue the seventh:
If Jim landed in your lap, would any of you ladies shove him off?

Clue the eighth:
So, the scene leading up to the End of Act Two freeze frame - was that fan service or what??

Clue the ninth:
Since when does darkness stop James West from hunting for baddies?
niecie Posted - 02/18/2018 : 12:26:27
Oh, very funny, beerbad! I have accordingly slightly edited Clue the seventh.

Yes. I'd shake his hand, but that's as far as I go.

We don't have a season for this one, but that's OK. The clue that it's the episode title makes up for it.

As it happens, my mom has some porcelain door handles! We were visiting an old homestead that had formerly belonged to some relatives - an old homestead that had burned down. While wandering through the debris, one of us found a porcelain door handle or two; the heat of the fire had altered it so that the porcelain looked like marble!

Ok, new quote. Hmm...

You are correct, niecie. You were way too smart on that one. It was a very amusing exchange between Artie in the disguise of a salesman who tries to explain to his date what he sells, and is hurt when she is not impressed. Good memory, she does say it back to him also.
niecie Posted - 01/31/2018 : 09:36:22
The one that takes place in Paradise, Nevada - the one where RC does that GREAT stunt flip! - the Emmet Stark one... TNOT Death Masks! Not sure if Artie says the line to his date or vice-versa (pretty sure they both say it - and this is the date who later sends Artie that gift of very old, very ripe escargot). But anyway, there it is.

(I have been informed that it was ParaDOX, not ParaDICE. *redfaced* Thanks, Cal Gal; I stand corrected!)

Clue #1 - Never tell Jim you don't like his piano playing.
beerbad Posted - 01/29/2018 : 07:32:27
Good clue on the anachronism. Tough but interesting.

OK, the next quote is from the 3rd season and it is "Porcelain Door Handles".
niecie Posted - 01/28/2018 : 11:56:06
The anachronism is the Van der Graaff generator; its inventor was born in 1901 and invented the device in 1929.

You've got the quote, beerbad, so it's your turn now!
beerbad Posted - 01/26/2018 : 08:01:12
Finally got it. It's Jim to Count Manzeppi in The Eccentrics.

The Valkyries threw me. I see it's "The Ride of the Valkyries" that Manzeppi hums as he exits. I still don't know who the anachronism clue refers to.

Season 2
What's on the agenda now?

Clue the first:
The Valkyries make an appearance.

Clue the second:
Waaaay too much flame for the purpose.

Clue the third:
Anachronism alert: a reference to someone who wasn't born till 1901

Clue the fourth:
If it's a cabinet of no return, how come she's back, hmm?

Clue the fifth:
Artie in his nice white jimjams

Clue the sixth:
The set in the Teaser seems to be a repository for props used throughout the series.

Jim's the one who opens the fortune cookie in TNT Dragon Screamed. He later quotes the fortune to a waitress at the Chinese restaurant, shortly before a guy pops out of a hidden door and throws a hatchet at him - which Jim catches!
