Governor Turnbal.

P. S. I'm still wandering in my own cave, so I haven't yet been able to process all the ones that Our Boys traversed in last weekend's quiz. Stay tuned for confirmation of those feathers.

There are many govenors in the series. I do not recall a Turnbal

So because he isn't named I am going to say the Governor in California in the Night the Wizard Shook the Earth and go back to my own cave

Okay, I know I know this one. I'm just not certain which episode it is, but its one I have. I love a great excuse to watch my DVDs and tapes. Interspersed this weekend with M:I, of course, considering the crossover I'm plotting.

Is it the governor in the episode with Miss Piecemeal and the art museum? Probably not, but that's the episode that kept popping up in my memory - for all that's worth, since I can't remember the name of the episode.

TNOT Wzard had Loveless as the villian (although I could be mistaken.) The one I'm thinking of had a double of the governor, and the head of the state art museum running amok as the head villian. Artie does a great French art critic telling the villian that all of his paintings are fake.

That was the same Governor and Miss Piecemeal - they refer repeatedly to the previous adventure. The Governor is kidnapped and replaced with a double by a 'Bolt' of Bolt Museum of Art. He wants to drain the state coffers to buy up the greatest collection of art in the world. Arte does a great turn as a representative of the Louvre with whom Bolt is negotiating to buy 'La Gioconda' - thats the Mona Lisa to us common folk. Arte scares Bolt $&!+less by convincing him half of his collection are fakes.

Got it! The title is TNOT Torture Chamber. I always have trouble remembering it because there is no torture chamber in the episode.

That's it!

Thanks, Silver. My memory needs a good jog once in a while.

I'm ready to pull my hair out over this one! I KNOW I know the answer, but I can't think of it and I can't find it. The voices in MY head keeping giving me Jim addresses the gentleman in a serious tone of voice, warning him, I think.

It's not TNOT Vicious Valentine, is it? I don't think I checked that one yet. It was his wedding Jim and Arte were meant to 'drop in on' unexpectedly at the last note of the wedding recessional?

The Vicious Valentine character whose wedding the boys "dropped in on" was Mr. Paul J. Lambert, "renowned beef baron of the West". And the governor in TNOT Torture Chamber was, I believe, Governor Bradford.

I'm going to take a wild shot at this and suggest that Governor Turnbal is a character whose face we never see. The voices in MY head are those of Colonel Richmond mentioning "Governor Turnbal's office...", and it feels like it's sometime during the fourth season. I DO remember hearing this name mentioned, but I don't have a face to put it with. Since there are so many characters who are alluded to during the series but never seen, I'm suggesting this may be one of them.

However, I don't have a clue about what episode this might be from. So, let's try process of elimination:

It's not:

Governor Brubaker (TNOT Legion of Death)
Governor Bradford (TNOT Torture Chamber)
Governor Lewis (TNOT Whirring Death)
Governor Hawthorne (TNOT Sudden Plague)
Governor Ireland (TNOT Running Death)

I'm going to say either TNOT Diva or TNOT Plague...that's all I got.

Thanks, Charlie, for setting me straight. Maybe some wonderful day we'll have been drilled by our wonderful quizmaster enough that all our in-head voices say the same thing.

I don't really contest your suggestion that Gov. Turnbal was in season 4, but I have hardly anything from that season, and what I have is poor quality, rather old, videotape I made off of FX Channel over 10 years ago. Yet I still feel like I recognize having heard the name mentioned reasonably recently, while viewing my CH videos or DVDs.

I have been wracking my brain the name sounded so familiar. But Governor Turnbal is mentioned in TNOT Diva, when Artemus is invited to escort his daughter.

Good point, Silver, about the questionable fourth season--I also had the CH DVDs and kinda remember hearing the name in one of them. I'm sure we'll get the answer and all smack our foreheads: "Yes, THAT'S it!"

But here's an interesting tidbit: Governor Charles Turnbull is currently the governor of the US Virgin Islands (yes, I was looking on Google for a WWW transcript, as I now have no clue as to the episode. You know what they say about "desperate times"...).

Actually I have to ammend my previous post. Artemus was faced with the dillema of having to choose either escorting the Diva to her opening night in New Orleans (President Grant's assignment) and accepting Gov. Turnbal's (of Louisianna) invitation to attend a party in honor of his daughter.

And we all know, even if we don't remember, what poor dutiful Artemus did!

With honorable mentions to Silver, couldron, MaudeB, and Charlie, this quiz was scooped from the jaws of defeat at the eleventh hour by train–expert orrin.

And the governor's daughter, whom Artie got to squire thanks to Jim, was named Nancy.

Mr. Cobb: Congratulations on another Anabella!

And I need 24 hours of recuperation—after a hellacious week— before I can post WQ214. See you guys tomorrow.
