| I have often wondered how Conrad and Martin related to each other after the day's work was done. Were they close friends? For the few things I have read, they had very different personalities. Anyone knows? |

I remember in an interview of RC way back in 1995 when the show was going on TNT he mentioned that they went to a football game together once, I think. |

| I have read that they were friends but not best buddies. Ross couldn't get Robert to go to the opera with him, and Robert couldn't get Ross to a Bears football game. |
James: Thanks, Artie. Artemus: "Thanks Artie"! Is that all you can say to me? I've just come back from the grave, risen like Lazarus, and that's what you say? "Thanks, Artie"? James: Thanks, Artie. Artemus: It's a pleasure. - TNOT Pistoleros |

| I doubt they socialized much outside of work. After you spend the whole day together, you've had plenty of socializing. Being 15 years apart in age, they had different friends. And different interests, as others have mentioned. |

I seem to remember that Cangey wrote in his book that RM joined the gang at the local bar sometimes after work, until he met the lady he would eventually marry.
Offhand I don't recall if Sue had anything in her book. I'd have to dig it out (or open the file) and look. |

From what I remember reading or hearing, RC and Ross never did hang out alot together after filming each day. Only at the studio bar there--- I forget what it was called right now, but they had a bar right there where they worked!! |

This funeral notice for RM was posted on the "Mr. Lucky" site. I think it is very touching:
a funeral notice for Ross Martin « Thread Started on Jun 29, 2011, 11:19am »
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I thought as "that date" approaches you folks would like to see this article I found online. It contains a lot of information I have never seen elsewhere. If anyone would like to have a copy of the original article as it appeared in the newspaper let me know and I'll send one along.
From the Elyria Chronicle Telegram, 7-8-81
Ross Martin eulogized as "best friend' of many HOLLYWOOD (UPI) -
Actor Robert Conrad told 300 mourners he learned acting from his "Wild, Wild West" co-star Ross Martin and with his passing he bad lost a dear friend. Conrad said, "I feel I have lost an older brother and a dear friend. He came to us with love I'm a better man because of him." Martin died last Friday after suffering a heart attack while playing tennis in Romona, Calif. He was 61. Family and friends gathered for a funeral at Mount Sinai Memorial Park Tuesday morning, where several of his friends spoke briefly following Jewish services.
MARTIN, WHOSE real name was Martin Rosenblatt, was eulogized by Lloyd Bridges as, "a man who played every part to perfection. But the best part he ever played was that of friend." Jockey Bill Shoemaker said, "Ross Martin was a truly great and giving human being." The pallbearers included actors Richard Crenna, Jack Lemmon, producer Blake Edwards and composer Henry Mancini. Among the mourners were comedians Jack Carter and Red Buttons, Lucille Ball, Richard Benjamin, George Segal, Ron Ely, Eydie Gorme, Paul Williams and Joseph Barbera, head of Hannah-Barbera Productions.
