I do remember that scene and the snicker. He was having a great time in Firebrand (for the most part).

Okay... let me see what I can find.

James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: "Thanks Artie"! Is that all you can say to me? I've just come back from the grave, risen like Lazarus, and that's what you say? "Thanks, Artie"?
James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: It's a pleasure.

Let's see how far this goes.

Also season 3:

That should muck it.

James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: "Thanks Artie"! Is that all you can say to me? I've just come back from the grave, risen like Lazarus, and that's what you say? "Thanks, Artie"?
James: Thanks, Artie.

Looks like I'm going to have to come up with a clue, huh? Let me think about it...

James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: "Thanks Artie"! Is that all you can say to me? I've just come back from the grave, risen like Lazarus, and that's what you say? "Thanks, Artie"?
James: Thanks, Artie.

Clue #1

...he hates funerals...

James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: "Thanks Artie"! Is that all you can say to me? I've just come back from the grave, risen like Lazarus, and that's what you say? "Thanks, Artie"?
James: Thanks, Artie.

Is it Jim? Funerals were very bad luck for him this season (buried at sea river in "The Night of the Vipers" and nearly cremated in "The Night of the Death-maker").

No, Jim doesn't say the quote in question. Just (I hope) a clue to the season 3 ep (even though the "he hates funerals" quote doesn't happen in season 3! )

James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: "Thanks Artie"! Is that all you can say to me? I've just come back from the grave, risen like Lazarus, and that's what you say? "Thanks, Artie"?
James: Thanks, Artie.

Gosh, am I going to have to come up with another clue? I really didn't think this one would be that hard!

James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: "Thanks Artie"! Is that all you can say to me? I've just come back from the grave, risen like Lazarus, and that's what you say? "Thanks, Artie"?

stroganoff

Okay I'm making a 'wild' guess here CG. Is it Artie saying this line in 'Loveless Died'? Can't think of who he would say it to, though. Loveless hates funerals, too, I think.

[Jim] Artie, you will help, won’t you?
[Artie] Oh, sure. There’ll be two of us.

Wild guess is correct. Artie in Loveless Died. I won't even insist you give the circumstances. It's just after he helps Jim escape from the operating table and they have set off the explosives on the door. Almost sounds like an ad lib!

I took the "he hates funerals" from Skulls (S2), referring to the fact that Loveless Died opens in a funeral parlor. And Artie made stroganoff for Triste. My next clue was going to be about the parrot!

Your turn, Torry!

James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: "Thanks Artie"! Is that all you can say to me? I've just come back from the grave, risen like Lazarus, and that's what you say? "Thanks, Artie"?

Probably. I was planning to watch the scene to get a "quote" from the bird so I probably would have noticed what kind it was.

James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: "Thanks Artie"! Is that all you can say to me? I've just come back from the grave, risen like Lazarus, and that's what you say? "Thanks, Artie"?

CG it was definitely the clue about stroganoff that got me thinking of the answer/guess. I knew it couldn't be Burning Diamond....so....

Here's one that may be too easy:

Season Two
The very top of the mornin’ to you

[Jim] Artie, you will help, won’t you?
[Artie] Oh, sure. There’ll be two of us.

That's Artemus in Cadre. I think he is talking to Josephine.

DT, good job. you've got the ep and the right speaker. But he's not talkin' to whacky Josephine at the point I'm thinking of

Then it is probably before he goes into the house; when he is talking to the guard and poofs him with his balloon trick.

I knew I could "hear" Artie say that but hadn't figured out the episode!

DT you're still only half right. It is Cadre, it is Artie dressed up as the salesman. But Artie's not talking to the guard, either.

Let me see if I can come up with a clue: I'll be right back

Okay, me again... I may be 'giving it all away here' But there's something missing from this quote. Something that would make it a really bad choice for this guessing game. In other words, if the missing element were included, no guessing would be needed.

Well, this is going to take some thinking--and episode viewing.

Artie's special smile

No Artie; no Druids.

Artie's special smile is mentioned in a completely different episode, but it should lead you to the correct one.

Well, I have watched several season 1 eps and no luck. Might need another wee hint.

James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: "Thanks Artie"! Is that all you can say to me? I've just come back from the grave, risen like Lazarus, and that's what you say? "Thanks, Artie"?
