Uh oh!

I've been watching or thinking about every season 3 ep in which a colonel is involved. Not too many left. Or else I missed it in the ones I watched (which is all too possible).

James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: "Thanks Artie"! Is that all you can say to me? I've just come back from the grave, risen like Lazarus, and that's what you say? "Thanks, Artie"?
James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: It's a pleasure.

The clue is in the form of a short story...

I went to a Avon Grove High School (in the middle of nowhere, PA). Our school colors were Maroon and Gold. Based on the school's initials, the science teacher (chemistry to be exact) said our school colors should have been Maroon and this other color, based on the initials of the high school.

You sure it only took you one day to think that one up? I'm sure it'll make perfect sense once someone figures out the answer. I'm still thinking and looking.

James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: "Thanks Artie"! Is that all you can say to me? I've just come back from the grave, risen like Lazarus, and that's what you say? "Thanks, Artie"?

I'm a little slow sometimes but I think I finally got it. I do believe AG is the symbol for silver, right?

Jim to Colonel Dieboldt in Running Death.

James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: "Thanks Artie"! Is that all you can say to me? I've just come back from the grave, risen like Lazarus, and that's what you say? "Thanks, Artie"?

Ag is Silver! You're dead on with the episode, but not the speaker. Squeeze those brain cells a little harder (or go and stick in the DVD).

The governor to Dieboldt?

I just watched the scene and I could have sworn Jim said it--or something close to it.

James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: "Thanks Artie"! Is that all you can say to me? I've just come back from the grave, risen like Lazarus, and that's what you say? "Thanks, Artie"?

OK, I just looked again--this time with the sound! I had the sound muted and read closed captioning this time. It showed Jim's face and the words and I didn't notice he didn't move his lips!

So the governor said it.

James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: "Thanks Artie"! Is that all you can say to me? I've just come back from the grave, risen like Lazarus, and that's what you say? "Thanks, Artie"?

Let's stick with season 3. Might be easy.

Hold that for me sweetheart, Iíll be back for it later.

You are right, DT. I had a feeling that one wouldn't last long. Your serve.

Well, might as well make a wild, wild guess.

Thaddeus Baines in Burning Diamond (sounds like something he would say)

James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: "Thanks Artie"! Is that all you can say to me? I've just come back from the grave, risen like Lazarus, and that's what you say? "Thanks, Artie"?

Thadeus wasn't around to make the remark, but I'm sure he would have if he had been. Not Burning Diamond.

OK, let's try Dr Loveless in Murderous Spring.

James: Thanks, Artie.

Well, Loveless does say it (to Jim) in Murderous Spring.

But a short while later Artie says it to Loveless in Murderous Spring.

James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: "Thanks Artie"! Is that all you can say to me? I've just come back from the grave, risen like Lazarus, and that's what you say? "Thanks, Artie"?

Ding! Ding! Ding! and the winner is Artie to Loveless. I guess the writers ran out of original lines.

Take it away, Cal Gal.

I was so sure Loveless said it (and I was right) but then I could also hear it in Artie's voice. I couldn't remember if he said it in the room with Jim when they were talking about how Loveless planned to use the formula to kill everyone, or later, when Loveless joined them. So I had to watch the episode. Pure torture, y'know.

Let me see if I can find anything tonight.

James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: "Thanks Artie"! Is that all you can say to me? I've just come back from the grave, risen like Lazarus, and that's what you say? "Thanks, Artie"?

Aha, found one.

Season 2:

You're making a big mistake, I tell you.

James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: "Thanks Artie"! Is that all you can say to me? I've just come back from the grave, risen like Lazarus, and that's what you say? "Thanks, Artie"?
James: Thanks, Artie.

I can hear Artie saying this, but I think a similar phrase might have been used in another episode. So here is a guess:

Artie as the Jewish tailor to Lambert and/or Emma - Vicious Valentine

Right speaker, wrong episode. You're on the right track, too.

James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: "Thanks Artie"! Is that all you can say to me? I've just come back from the grave, risen like Lazarus, and that's what you say? "Thanks, Artie"?

Guess it's time for a clue. This should do it:

Julius Caesar Act 5 Scene 1

James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: "Thanks Artie"! Is that all you can say to me? I've just come back from the grave, risen like Lazarus, and that's what you say? "Thanks, Artie"?
James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: It's a pleasure.

Another clue needed? OK, try this. It should give it away.

Deadly nightshade.

James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: "Thanks Artie"! Is that all you can say to me? I've just come back from the grave, risen like Lazarus, and that's what you say? "Thanks, Artie"?
James: Thanks, Artie.

Sadly I Googled that Shakespeare reference, so although I now know what episode it is I have to disqualify myself...

Even though you listed no googling in the first post on this re-started topic, I don't think it was in the original rules. I googled to find the clue (I'm no Shakespeare expert!), so googling to find this particular answer is fine by me!

Go for it!

James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: "Thanks Artie"! Is that all you can say to me? I've just come back from the grave, risen like Lazarus, and that's what you say? "Thanks, Artie"?

I had to watch the episode twice before I finally heard the quote. I got so caught up with Artie calling the heavies no good mangey sidewinders that I missed the quote.

Artie (The names Fargo, Sonny) to Loveless henchmen - Bogus Bandits

The Shakespeare hint wasn't very helpful to me, for though we share the same birth place, I am not very well versed in Shakespeare. I am much better with herbs.

That's it, DT. Glad I didn't have to come up with another clue! I was thinking I'd offer Samuel F.B. Morse!

Take it away!

James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: "Thanks Artie"! Is that all you can say to me? I've just come back from the grave, risen like Lazarus, and that's what you say? "Thanks, Artie"?
