I'm going to take a guess to get it started:

Jim to Lydia in Inferno?

James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: "Thanks Artie"! Is that all you can say to me? I've just come back from the grave, risen like Lazarus, and that's what you say? "Thanks, Artie"?
James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: It's a pleasure.

I've been watching a few season 1 eps and haven't found it yet. Probably need a clue (or two).

James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: "Thanks Artie"! Is that all you can say to me? I've just come back from the grave, risen like Lazarus, and that's what you say? "Thanks, Artie"?
James: Thanks, Artie.

I have no idea what this clue means. Guess I'll keep watching episodes and see whether I can find it!

Thank goodness! I thought it was just me who was clueless.

Hey CL1969, we need a clue to understand the clue.

I can't give clues to the clues; as Sir Nigel Scott said, "The rules of the game forbid it."

But I can give you another clue: Sterling Hayden.

I thought I knew what the clue "Sterling Hayden" might mean but so far it hasn't panned out.

You might need to come up with a little less esoteric clue for those of us who don't memorize movie casts or lines. You aren't Tony DiNozzo by any chance, are you?

James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: "Thanks Artie"! Is that all you can say to me? I've just come back from the grave, risen like Lazarus, and that's what you say? "Thanks, Artie"?

I take it you don't watch NCIS. He's a huge movie fan and is always quoting scenes and lines--much to the annoyance of his coworkers.

James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: "Thanks Artie"! Is that all you can say to me? I've just come back from the grave, risen like Lazarus, and that's what you say? "Thanks, Artie"?

Well, if you look him up I guarantee you'll find the solution to the episode it's from.

Well, when you gave the Sterling Hayden clue, I looked him up on IMDB, guessing first that you were referring to someone who co-starred with him. i found that Keenan Wynn and Burgess Meredith had appeared in films with Hayden, so I watched those 2 episodes. No dice. Even before the clues, I thought of Flaming Ghost and watched it with no success. In checking IMDB again, I saw that Sterling Hayden played John Brown in the TV miniseries, "The Blue and the Gray." So... I watched Flaming Ghost again. Still nothing, even though I paid close attention to the dialogue. Heard "of course" said a couple of times, but not the full quote. I'm stumped. Maybe someone else can follow through.

(And still have no idea what the FBI clue means.)

James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: "Thanks Artie"! Is that all you can say to me? I've just come back from the grave, risen like Lazarus, and that's what you say? "Thanks, Artie"?

Well, you've got the right episode - and since it's not a woman who says the quote, I can explain that guest star Lynn Loring was a regular on the early episodes of... The FBI. Simple, no?

Well, as I said, I watched Flaming Ghost twice and didn't hear the exact quote. Maybe third time will be the charm--if someone else doesn't hear it first!

James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: "Thanks Artie"! Is that all you can say to me? I've just come back from the grave, risen like Lazarus, and that's what you say? "Thanks, Artie"?

I watched Flaming Ghost again (how about that for dedication?) and still cannot find anyone saying "Of course he is."

The closest is when Artie escapes from the fort, and Jim tells John Brown, "He's gone to bring back the cavalry."

Brown replies, "Of course. Why do you think I let him escape?"

So if that's not it, I'm done. For now.

James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: "Thanks Artie"! Is that all you can say to me? I've just come back from the grave, risen like Lazarus, and that's what you say? "Thanks, Artie"?

I could have sworn he said "Of course he is," but you nailed the episode and the speaker I had in mind, so you're next up!

That's why I checked Flaming Ghost originally, because I remembered that scene and thought he probably said it there. Senior moments for both of us, I guess.

I'll find a quote later today.

James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: "Thanks Artie"! Is that all you can say to me? I've just come back from the grave, risen like Lazarus, and that's what you say? "Thanks, Artie"?

I guess it's time to provide a cryptic clue before this sinks out of sight! Let me see...

Look away.

Need another clue? To quote Lauren Bacall:

“You know how to whistle, don't you, Steve? You just put your lips together and blow.”

I think I'll take a guess here, because I'm not sure that's exactly what was said in the scene I'm thinking of.

Ralph Kleed to Sgt. Stryker in Cadre

James: Thanks, Artie.
