Right you are, CL. She of the rattlesnakes. Just a little joke, y'know.

You are up!

James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: "Thanks Artie"! Is that all you can say to me? I've just come back from the grave, risen like Lazarus, and that's what you say? "Thanks, Artie"?
James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: It's a pleasure.

I've checked a few episodes - fruitlessly. I think I need a clue.

Neither of our heroes was present when it was said. In addition, the person who said it was off-camera...it also sounded like his voice was looped in post-production.

Found it!

The guy (he was called variously Bill or Billy) who brought the raven into the sheriff's office in TNOT Winged Terror, Part One. Oh, and he was speaking to the sheriff.

(Frankly, I don't think the looped voice was even recorded by the same actor.)

Correct and I agree that the looping was not done by the actor.

Hmmm... secretary.

Time to think of episodes of secretaries.

As noted in clue the third, the line is exceedingly hard to hear!

How about Artie in Cadre? Perhaps in his disguise as the peddlar?

James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: "Thanks Artie"! Is that all you can say to me? I've just come back from the grave, risen like Lazarus, and that's what you say? "Thanks, Artie"?
James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: It's a pleasure.

Artie in Cadre, indeed! He's just taken off the guard uniform and isn't quite yet dressed as the peddler - says the line just as he flips over the side of the wagon to read 'Kelton's Travelling Emporium.'

(I knew the secretary clue was a good 'un.)

Your turn, Cal Gal!

Actually the red and green smoking jackets caused me to start thinking of Cadre, but it took me a while longer to come up with the possible speaker and situation.

Here's the next one.

Season 3:

Well, maybe second best.

James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: "Thanks Artie"! Is that all you can say to me? I've just come back from the grave, risen like Lazarus, and that's what you say? "Thanks, Artie"?
James: Thanks, Artie.

Season 3? So this isn't Artie in Golden Cobra, declaring the horse to be man's best friend, then turning around to see Jim kissing 'Rapunzel' and amending it to, 'Well, maybe second best'?

Oops! Typo! Sorry about that.(Didn't even notice when I added the clue.)

It is season 2 and it is Golden Cobra and it is Artie in the situation you mention.

Go for it!

James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: "Thanks Artie"! Is that all you can say to me? I've just come back from the grave, risen like Lazarus, and that's what you say? "Thanks, Artie"?
